Thank you for the packages Mom. I received the flag and the cassette player. I appreciate it. I feel really bad for Alex and I want his family to know I'm praying for them. Some things that happen in life are unexplainable, the Lord works in His own ways and all we can do is have faith and follow Him and it'll all work out. I'm also hoping that the doctors can find what is wrong with grandpa.
The ward is great her and we are able to be pretty involved in the things that go on. My first week here we were able to MC the ward talent show, that was fun haha. Yesterday we were able to teach the young women and it was a great lesson! Elder Wilkerson, that we live with, baptized a guy about a month ago name Shu. He's from China and here to go to school, about 26. One day he walked into church and just wanted to have a religion. So they taught and baptized him within a month. Now he is in our ward and we have the privilege of working with him. He just received a calling yesterday to be a stake translator for mandarin Chinese! It is an answer to prayers because we have a Chinese guy in our ward, not a member, who doesn't speak a word of English, but he comes to church every week. We were able to go to his home Saturday with Shu and get to know him a little bit. We are working on getting more things in Chinese because he wants to learn more. Once we get the things we need we will have Shu translate for us while we teach. It's an amazing thing to see the excitement and desire Shu has to be a part of this gospel and do everything he can to help, right after he was baptized. He has even mentioned the thought of going on a mission as well, after he finished school, before he goes back to China. Then last night we received a text from the Bishop and were told that there's a 10 year old girl from a less active family in the ward that wants to get baptized before she goes through surgery in a month. So we are very excited for that and looking forward to meeting with them this week. I kow we are being blessed right now and I am so grateful for this time to have to be here as the Lords servant. Thanks again for the things you do for me and all the support. Oh and Janell thanks for the gift card for a smoothie, we have one of those pretty close and I'm excited to use it. I love you all. Elder Logan Smith
PS Our area is pretty close to the airport, so there are big jets taking off right over our apartment all day and all night....It's awesome! haha

Hello everyone!
It's been a great week, and I had a great birthday yesterday. Thank you so much for the packages from Mom, Grandma, and Janell. I received all of them and enjoyed them so much, thank you! No, I haven't received the Nevada flag yet Mom but maybe this next week it will come. I had a great birthday present yesterday which was an investigator attended church for all 3 hours! She is a very opinionated lady that Elder White tracted into a few weeks ago. She looked up a bunch of anti Mormon stuff online and asked us all about it. The good thing is that she's not mean about it, probably the nicest lady ever, but we had a great lesson with her on Saturday that in my opinion was completely led by the Spirit and I think we got through to her and committed her to read the Book of Mormon again, but this time with real intent, without all the opinions on the internet, because she had read it before in years past. We are hoping and praying for her and hope she continues to progress. The funny thing is she goes to a Christian church just across the field from our stake center. She wasn't us to go with her one Sunday....but I don't know about that haha. They hate Mormons over there.
I did forget to mention that Elder White is from Ft Worth, Texas. Oh and Mom, his Mom is also in the Pathways program at BYUI so we were wondering if you knew each other. (Yes, Mom remembers her and has talked to her). Also Mom, there is an Elder Birch in my district, that came out not too long ago, he went to Hillcrest high school for a few years, then they moved to Seattle, he played baseball with Michael Birch, and there has to be some relation, I just can't remember his parents names. I keep finding people I'm related to!!
It is true about Ryan and his mission is just in the spotlight it seems a lot. I feel bad about the tragedy's. It has been windy here the past week, and we've fought it the whole time on our bikes! It's a good work out though! It's interesting being on a bike, we get yelled at more, and also get to talk to more people on the street, haha. But it's fun, I'm thankful for the experience.
Thanks for the support you give Taylor. Everything here is going well and I'm still loving it! This has been the best decision of my life and I'm so grateful for the things that the Lord has taught me through trial and error, and that I am able to teach the gospel to all who are willing to hear. Thanks for all the support from back home, I Love You all and hope it's a great week!

Family!!! It has been such a great week! Thank you for the letters and emails! I appreciate the things everyone's sending me, it seems weird that I'll be 20 soon! Time fly's...but as for this week, we have had some great experiences. Elder White is a great missionary, he just needs a little direction and I am helping him with that and helping him be more obedient. We are in the West Oquendo ward, and I think it's the best ward I have been in so far, with the support of leadership of the ward. Yesterday I think I was introduced as the new missionary in the ward about 4 times throughout the meeting, and everyone is so friendly and willing to help us out. I'm really excited to be here and know this is where I should be. We are working hard on getting new investigators and lessons to teach considering that Elder White hasn't taught a lesson yet. His old companion wasn't the hardest worker or obedient so there's some work to be done. The only difficult part is that the area is huge compared to my last area, and we're on bike! Which makes a big area hard to work in. And yes Mom I know I have to be careful and always lock up my bike, thanks for the reminder! haha. But hopefully we will be able to get a car soon, it makes the work a lot more effective! The area goes from W Hacienda to Windmill and from Rainbow to the 215 north bound. So it's a great workout for the both of us!! We live in an apartment with 2 other Elders, which is a complete mess and I'm working on cleaning it up! haha but at least there's a gym we're able to go to to every morning!
So about 2 months ago in my last area, me and Elder Naranjo tracted into this guy and he let us right in and we were able to teach him the restoration. We taught him the plan of salvation at a latter appointment as well, but then we lost the ward to the Elders and they finished teaching him. Well, he was baptized on Saturday so we were able to go back up to attend the baptism! It was such a great feeling while we were there, knowing that I helped find this person and helped bring him to the restored gospel. It was such a great day and I'm grateful for the opportunity I had to find and teach him before baptism. So yes tracting does work, for all those people out there that say it doesn't haha. I continue praying for health and safety for you all and I love you all. Elder Smith.

Family!
I was so great to be in the room when Sister Nulle called you Mom! We were eating dinner and she just got the phone and started dialing and I was like, wow wow hold on haha, so I started cleaning up dishes while listening to her talk to you! But I'm glad she was able to talk to you, and yes she will be a great friend of mine and your for a long time. We were headed out the door to teach a lesson to an active family in the ward when she was done talking to you, which went really well! But I will miss living there in the home with them as I am being transferred to the South Stake today. And yes as she said, I will be training, but only half training, which means my new companion Elder White, has already been out for 6 weeks, and I will finish training him this next transfer. It was a disappointment to me that I won't be district leader this next transfer, but it's really up to the Lord where we go and what we do as missionaries, and I'm grateful for the learning experience I have had so far. I have really learned that and realize how great President Black is to pray for each one of us individually to know what should happen to us, each transfer. It's great to know that we are led by God and that we do his will when we follow the Spirit and do as we are asked.
Mom thank you for the package, and for my birthday I don't need anything except only one request, could I have a Nevada flag so that I can have the missionary's sign it. Other than that I'm good for now. Oh, and I'm thankful that I have a nice bike because my next area is a bike area! Right at the beginning of summer!! Should be exciting haha. Today is great because it's overcast and raining but it will be hot the rest of the week. This past week has been great though! I can really see the results of our hard work. We were tracting the other day and got 3 return appointments, one seems pretty promising so that was exciting! And conference was great as well! I loved all the talks, and Dad I thought the same thing you did, that I only have two conferences left then I'm home! Time has gone by fast and it will continue that way until I'm home!
I hope everyone is well and look forward to hearing from you again soon. I love you all and pray for you daily. Have a great week!

Family!
I have been called as a Spanish missionary in the St. George mission for the rest of the time here!!! It was a shock to me as well and I can't believe that I'm being transferred there but President said that they need me and some others to be there for some reason. Janell I'll be really close to you now!! I leave next Monday...but actually today just happens to be April Fools day so I'm, actually staying here and won't be learning Spanish...Sorry about that hahaha
But seriously, it's been a good week and an even better Easter weekend! We were able to help teach the 5th Sunday lesson at church yesterday because it was all about missionary work and helping the ward become more confident missionaries. I was grateful for the time I had to talk and invite everyone to hear the missionary lessons. So we will start getting really busy soon with teaching all the families the missionary lessons, whether they are active or not. We are currently teaching a couple families and will start with a few more this week, and we just finished teaching all the lessons to a family to help their son prepare for a mission. His parents were on the edge of being inactive and they're family was struggling. And over the last month of teaching them, I have seen miracles happen because of their willingness to listen to us and help Tanner prepare to serve. Yesterday the whole family was at church together for the first time in probably a year or so. And the daughters husband was even there, who was completely anti Mormon 2 months ago. I am so grateful for the gospel and the blessings it brings into our families, whether we realize it or not. I'm grateful for the missionary lessons we are able to teach investigators and families, because there's power in them, not from us, but from the Spirit. As it says in Alma 26:12 it is through God's strength that we are able to do this great work, and I wouldn't be here without the strength I have been given by my Heavenly Father to endure and help these great people here in Las Vegas.
Mom, thanks for the Easter package, I remember doing it during our family home evenings in the past years, and I am grateful to have it to share with my meetings and investigators or trainings. As you probably know, transfers are next Monday and I think I might be moving. Elder Naranjo is a culinary cook and the people actually want him to cook the meals for us instead of them cooking the meals for us. All of the members want us to come and cook for them! We even helped a family cook our Easter dinner! I'm sorry to hear that Vicky died, but she is in a better place and she will be blessed for what she had to go through with her family here on earth. I hope everyone is safe and I love you. Love Elder Smith
